Education Is Changing All Around Us
Due to the internet, education as we know it was changed forever. A recent survey revealed that of all college students enrolled in classes, 1 in 4 had at least 1 online course. The economy and environment are better off when individuals take classes online. Not only do students pay less for their tuition, but they also save money on transportation costs and materials. At a conference a year ago Bill Gates stated that within the next several years universities will practically be worthless given that the best lectures and presentations will be online.
Khan Academy, which provides "a free world-class education for anyone anywhere," even obtained funding from Bill Gates. Khan Academy has over 2,100 video clips that range from topics like simple algerbra to amortization. Where there is a will to learn, there is a way; Khan Academy is just that. Now the two most important things to help someone get an education are access to the internet and the time to be able to dedicate for watching videos and doing work. Although it can be quite a powerful and destructive force to society and our planet, the internet is helping bring to pass great improvements in education and instruction. There is also educational funding programs available for college students and minorities. As an example, they provide African American scholarships that will help them finance their educational needs.
Poor people in today's world are much more capable of lifting themselves out of poverty and becoming successful professionals. People no longer have to leave their homes to go to a school or library since all that same information can be found using their home computer. All this explains the explanation for the current push to give 3rd world countries computers and internet access. The time period is coming soon when anyone can receive a quality education for under a few bucks. Way back in history, only the wealthiest and strongest families could actually educate their kids and enable them to graduate at a university. A good deal has changed ever since then.
Tablets, like the Internet, are transforming education and how everyone is learning their material. The single thing a student needs to have a full learning experience full of videos and interactive games is a small device the size of a notebook. Now it is possible to form and submit entire essays wirelessly, without needing to concern yourself with not having enough ink or getting hand cramps. Education has changed more within the last couple years than it did throughout the whole twentieth century. Not enough people know about the changes in education and even fewer people are actually using them. Everyone who has access to the internet can use these tools but not enough people know about them.
Education has a bright future, as do those who will be able to benefit from the changes that are going on. Education is changing for the better and giving everyone equal opportunities to learn and grow. Sadly, the opportunities that lots of individuals have in education aren't being taken advantage of. Classes online are really the future of education, not just since they're environmentally and economically friendly but also simply because they give their students flexibility.
